Kids On Dollar Store Toys

Many of the cheap dollar store toys have pictures of kids on the package in case there is any confusion on who the toys are meant for. The kids shown on the toy packages are usually really happy, presumably about the toy, and possibly even playing with the toy to show that, yes, kids will have fun with the toy if you would just buy it for them. Labyrinth Game Challenger These two kids are on the labyrinth game challenger package. The boy looks kind of freaky and looks even worse when the picture is enlarged. He wants to have a labyrinth competition as the girl plays. On the game itself, the little girl is asking if the boy has won the game to which he replies he did. At least these kids look a little more normal. New Concept Bike This kid looks like he was just thrown on the package. He could be doing anything or happy about anything, but let’s just say he got the New Concept Bike and he was just so happy. It’s either that or because he is wearing an open pack of Jiffy Pop on his head. If you don’t know what Jiffy Pop is, imagine a bag of microwave popcorn you cooked on a stove. Speed Track This kid is surprisingly playing with the toy and he almost looks like he is enjoying it. He must really be good at it to have one car in the loop, one loaded in the launcher and holding a third car. Bad English On Dollar Store Toys

Since many of the cheap toys you find at dollar stores are made in China, chances are you’re going to get some bad translation written on the packages, included in the instructions and sometimes on the toys themselves where they feel some instructions are necessary. Websites, such as Engrish.com, host an assortment of bad English wherever they can find it. They can be very funny when they’re translated wrong, but is it fair to pick on people from another country for poor translation? I wouldn’t be able to piece together anything coherent in another language. Could you? They probably have to translate to languages other than English for other countries so it’s probably tough to keep everything straight, but when you think about it, why don’t they hire someone who is well versed in reading and writing in English to prepare anything written on packages? At the very least they can have someone on staff that can proofread and correct any mistakes. Anyway, here are some of the examples of bad English in a compilation I have come across in my cheap dollar store toy travels. Enjoy. The Frisbee Game The picture is from the top surface of the Frisbee itself. This one isn’t such a good example of the poor grammar issues, but it still sounds kind of weird. However, it would be a good use for the Captain Picard face palm images you can find. Toys Basketball On the backside of the package are these how to use instructions. It reminds me of grammar on the Lolcat pictures. Bricks Sets This is shown on the front side of each package. This one is really tough to wrap your head around. This is shown on the back side of each package. Some don’t really make any sense and some are so close to being fine. Build A Toy Helicopter These are the instructions on how to build the Build A Copter toy. Below is what is says since it is small in the picture. Dollar Plus Replacing Dollar Bazaar

There seems to be a new business opening up in the plaza where the Dollar Bazaar closed down. As luck would have it, the new business moving in is going to be another dollar store called Dollar Plus. I don’t know why the other dollar store closed, although I have a pretty good guess as to why, but isn’t it a little odd to open a similar business in the same spot the similar business failed? It’s going to be a small dollar store which means the prices are going to be higher than other places like Dollarama and Buck or Two so I guess you can’t even really call it a dollar store. It would be more of a discount store. Maybe the plus will refer to the extra money everything will cost. I actually didn’t look to see when it was supposed to open for business but I will definitely check it out once it does open to see if they have any interesting knockoffs, bootleg or any other funny or interesting toys. Maybe these guys will have better luck in that spot being a dollar store than the last store, but only time will tell with that...
